Over 50 Years of Pioneering Change in K-12 Education.

The Center for City Building Educational Programs, a dedicated 501(c)(3) non-profit since 1974, is committed to training K-12 teachers in the powerful Doreen Nelson Method of Design-Based Learning. Our journey began with a vision to create better educational prospects, and for decades, we’ve empowered educators and students by fostering creativity, critical thinking, and a genuine love for learning.

What is Design-Based Learning (DBL)?

DBL is a dynamic, hands-on K–12 methodology that makes learning active and effective. Students solve real-world problems by designing and building unique solutions—truly learning by doing and developing essential critical thinking skills.
